I have been in a reflective mood lately, thinking about the lessons life has taught me in my young life. I believe I have learned a lot of life lessons in 27 years of my life, so I have decided to share 27 of
I keep learning as I grow, and I do not know for certain if I will hold the same sentiments at age 50 but as a millennial who is pretty exposed to the realities of life and living it, I am sure I will stand by a lot of these lessons for a long time to come.
Do not forget to leave your comments at the end of the article by sharing with me the lessons life has taught you so far. I have a self-improvement workbook that I believe you will love. You can check it out here.
These are 27 of the useful life lessons I have learned in 27 years of my life.
1.Take care of yourself first– To be able to help other people and be there for them, you must take care of yourself first. You cannot mend others if you are broken.
2. You do not ALWAYS need help– More than half the time, you can do it by yourself if only you try.
3. Sometimes, you do need help- Open up and let people help you when you cannot handle it all by yourself.
4. Always know
5. Beauty is a choice– I’m not talking about the cliche ‘inner beauty’ or ‘beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder’ sayings. I’m talking about every woman being truly beautiful; It’s only a matter of deciding to project your beauty through personal grooming and spicing it up with confidence.
6. Love exists but it is hard to find– Need I say more?
7. Every missed opportunity opens new doors– Most of the opportunities I lost in the past created room for me to explore more exciting and fulfilling opportunities.
8. People may be a hindrance to your success without realizing it. Stick to what makes you fulfilled and gives results, and do not try to please people. The people you should watch out for are those who try to advise you but do not understand your journey. Simply, do not seek validation from other people.
9. Some people will forget you exist until you succeed, and that is normal.
10. You will not always get closure- People won’t always give you an explanation for their actions, but you must learn to move on. And oh, don’t forget to pick up some lessons.
11. Kindness is fulfilling and life-changing.
12. Not everyone who loves you has a reason to; not everyone who hates you has a reason either.
13. Always ask yourself, ‘If I disappeared for three days, would anyone notice my absence enough to come find me? Advise yourself with the answer.
14. Do not always assume people are okay; check on them.
15. Marriage is good but not everyone is meant to get married.
16. Some people seem unfriendly until you get to KNOW them.
17. Money management and making tough financial decisions come with adulting. For someone who knows what it means to be broke, trust me when I say money matters; it’s no child’s play.
18. Do not force to stay where you are not accepted. Leave.
19. Trust your guts. It is almost always right.
20. You are not as important to most people like you think-Everyone is concerned about their own life.
21. Not everyone’s opinion of you matters; however, perception is reality sometimes. Be measured on this.
22. People will not always be there for you– Sad reality.
23. Moderation is key– Exercise moderation in your actions. Example: when someone extends a helping hand, do not abuse it by contantly asking for favors.
24. Sometimes, talking about an idea will draw you back; just act!
25. Learning to say no will save you a lot of stress.
26. God answers prayers– If you don’t believe in God, skip.
27. You will never feel like doing the hard things that will make you succeed, so you must force yourself to do them. This is inspired by Mel Robbins in this amazing TED talk and it works for me.
I am glad you stayed with me till the 27th point. I hope you found some valuable life lessons from them. Still on personal-development, you can join our 7-day self-improvement challenge by clicking here.
