I started my blog with a great passion to succeed. As you may know already, blogging can get overwhelming, especially when you are trying to increase your blog’s traffic to your new blog. Before I started my blog, every blog post I found on blogging talked about how vital Pinterest traffic is to the growth of many blogs.
So I figured I would start a blog, create a Pinterest account, toss in some pins and discover a gold mine of traffic from Pinterest (how I wish I knew better ☹).
My struggle with traffic
After spending two months to build my blog and position it for success, I got stuck after I launched. I needed direction on how to proceed and get people to read my blog posts since I published 20 posts before launching. If you need help starting a blog of your own, check out my step-by-step guide on how to start a money-making blog.
I tried to drive traffic from Pinterest but that was not helpful. I tried the free version of BoardBooster to schedule my pins and it was quite helpful since it was hands-free. After my trial period for BoardBooster expired, I decided to use the trial version of Tailwind. Tailwind looked promising. When I first started using Tailwind, I was so excited about my prospects on Pinterest, but I messed up; I messed up big time.
I wanted to get traffic so bad that I scheduled 80 of my own pins in ONE DAY. That was a terrible decision I lived to regret. On that day, my traffic was down to the lowest (I was already struggling for traffic). I felt like dropping some tears:(.
I was a new Pinterest user who wanted the easy way out but that clearly did not work. For days I kept checking my analytics and tried to make the necessary changes. I reduced the number of pins I scheduled, but my traffic (which was low already ) kept declining. I was frustrated.
That was when I knew I needed help. As soon as possible, I started searching online for Pinterest courses and e-books. I spent a lot of time searching for two reasons: I needed a highly recommended Pinterest strategy which had worked for other new bloggers and it had to be something I could afford.
Pinteresting Strategies
I am honest with blogging product reviews because I do not want any new blogger like myself to invest their money in things that do not work (that hurts).
Most of the Pinterest courses I found were very expensive ( I mean very expensive) and I could not afford them. I searched even harder. After weeks of searching and reading reviews, I knew I had to stop looking and act.
It was easy to settle on the Pinteresting Strategies e-book because it had very good reviews; I decided to check it out.
I finally decided to buy it because it was affordable compared to the other products I found. The e-book costs $47. The exciting thing about this e-book is that, after many of her students saw results, Carly came up with an updated version of the same book with additional tips and information. You can check it out here.
I purchased Pinteresting Strategies from Carly of Mommy on Purpose and read the entire book to get an idea of how it works. Immediately, I started implementing the strategies.
Implementing the strategies
As I said before, I was new to Pinterest, so I was all over the place.
Fortunately, the e-book focused on two main things: Pinterest SEO and Manual pinning.
Pinterest SEO
I would never have thought of the need to optimize my Pinterest profile including my account name, boards, pin descriptions, and the designs of my pins. That information was very helpful and it would have taken me a long time to figure it out on my own.
Pinterest SEO is very important in getting your pins to pop up in Pinterest’s search results. Therefore it is important to optimize your pins to be found on Pinterest. Find what people are searching for on Pinterest and produce content based on those topics. After creating your content, optimize your pins and pin descriptions before you pin them to relevant boards. All these are explained in detail in Carly’s ebook.
I particularly love the step by step guidance and the friendly language Carly Campbell uses in Pinteresting Strategies.
Carly herself went through some struggles (like you and me). The strategy she shares in her Pinteresting Strategies e-book is the strategy she used to get 5-10k pageviews a day when she first started. She subsequently increased her pageviews to 20-30,000 page views per day, and her pageviews kept getting better.
If I had to recommend a Pinterest product to you, especially if you are on a budget, I recommend Pinteresting Strategies.
Manual Pinning
This is the sauce in the ebook. The actual strategy lies in the manual pinning. This strategy is great if you can commit at least an hour to implement the strategies in the book.
Coco from Blog Darling, Nicole of Nicole Stone and so many other bloggers implemented this strategy and it exploded their traffic.

My Results
I know you’ve been itching to read this.
With this strategy, Carly suggests you dedicate at least one hour every day to pin manually.
Confession: I have not dedicated time in implementing the strategies as I should. I am still working on the strategy and even though I am not consistent, I have managed to position my account in a way that is growing nicely. Most of the traffic I get from my blog is from Pinterest. I have made progress since when my account almost went dead due to the mistakes I made earlier.
My average monthly viewers on Pinterest, for example, moved from around 1000 to 70,788 (as at the time of writing this post), it works if you can find the time to pin manually. My numbers may not be huge compared to others, but I am making progress; considering that I am not consistent in implementing the strategy.
As I said before, I am particularly in love with the information on Pinterest SEO and how to position my account and pins to be seen on Pinterest.
Another positive thing about manual pining is that you do not need to pay for a scheduler. Yayyy!!
What did not work?
The downside to this strategy is that you must make time to pin manually. If you cannot dedicate at least an hour in a day to pin, you may not fully get the results you desire.
In summary, these are the things you will learn in all 14 chapters of the book.
Chapter 1: Sometimes it IS about traffic
Chapter 2: First things first; for profitability
Chapter 3: Setting up your Pinterest profile: tips for success
Chapter 4: How to set up rich pins
Chapter 5: What makes a great pin?
Chapter 6: Pinterest (thinks) it can see your pins
Chapter 7: Start Pinning!
Chapter 8: Group Boards
Chapter 9: My Pinterest Strategy
Chapter 10: The crazy overwhelming-ness of pinning like this
Chapter 11: Keeping on top of group boards
Chapter 12: Do Pinterest followers matter?
Chapter 13: Regarding deleting pins
Chapter 14: Final Pinteresting Thoughts?
I must say this- I love how Carly summarises each chapter in bullet points on the last page of every chapter.
Should you get the e-book?
If you want my honest opinion, yes I think you should get the e-book. Firstly, because it is one of the e-books on Pinterest that actually work and secondly because it is less expensive.
How much does it cost?
The Pinteresting Strategies e-book costs $47. I know this varies depending on the size of your pocket but compared to other e-books, it is very affordable. If you spend this amount on building your future, I think it is a better investment than spending on something that would not be of benefit to you in the long term.

My Final Thoughts
We all stumble and fall until we get the results we desire. You can figure things out on your own, but that could take months or years. Considering the Pinterest algorithm changes, it is important to learn from someone who has been in the game, implemented a strategy and seen results.
There are a lot of blogs out there than ever before; so you do not want to spend all your time trying to figure out what someone has done already.
Give Pinteresting Strategies a shot if this feels right; if it doesn’t, I suggest you go for anything else that works. After all, it is the result that matters.
Happy Pinning! 😊
