Why are we having this conversation? I imagine you just started blogging or have plans of starting a blog. Blogging has always been overwhelming for most beginners and you need all the help to get a profitable blog up and running.
No matter which stage of the journey you find yourself right now as a newbie blogger, the process will be much easier if you focus on these three traits.
I am not talking about your ability to write codes, neither I’m I saying you need to be a tech guru ( though that sounds really cool).
I’m talking about the traits you need to maintain the energy and grow your blog while you enjoy the process doing so.
You can check out a step-by-step tutorial on how to start a blog here.
Let’s get into the three traits you need to have when you are just starting out as a blogger.
Time Management Skills
Is time ever enough for anyone? I am yet to meet someone who complains about how much time there is in a day.
Making time to blog when you have a full-time job or other responsibilities can be challenging, but you need to put in actionable measures to find time for your blog. Building a profitable blog requires time and commitment especially at the beginning.
Good news is, you can plan your time and use schedules to make your activities easier to manage. If you are willing to spend at least ten hours a week working on your new blog, you are in business.
Remember when you are just starting out, you will most likely have to figure things out on your own, and that will require a lot of time. I know because I have been there (and I’m still there somehow).
However, there is a way out. Assess your schedules and commit time to your blog without interference.
If you work full time or you are still in school, you would need to adjust your to-do list and add your blog to your daily list of goals.
In my case, I work full time but I still manage to put in ten hours or more a week on my blog.
This is how I do it:
I wake up as early as 4.00am and start working on my blog. That way, I am able to spend some time blogging before I start my morning routine, prepare and go to work. Working on my blog is gradually becoming part of my morning routine anyway. I also schedule some time on weekends just to concentrate on my blog.
Another way you can do this is to avoid your time waters especially time spent on social media. Direct all your spare time to your blog.

Patience
Imagine your blog as a flower. When planted, it grows under rough conditions in the soil and guess what happens next? It blossoms. Successful blogs go through a similar process.
You may get so many page views or start making some money (or both) immediately you start. When that happens, hurray! What if it doesn’t go like you expect it to? Would you give up? That is exactly where patience comes in.
Blogging for beginners can get overwhelming and discouraging but always remember that most six-figure bloggers started like you.
You may have heard stories about how difficult or impossible it is to make money immediately you start your blog as a beginner. I think everyone has a different journey. I do know that you need to research, learn from the best bloggers, invest in training and find a good way to grow your blog.
I talk about patience so passionately because it takes strong will not to quit even when you are working and not seeing results. You can change your strategy but be patient and work on your blog no matter what.

Persistence
Keep moving my friend, and never stop. I know what it means to be overwhelmed and want to give up. So many times I get tired and confused about the next step but I ask myself this question; what if it works?
For many successful bloggers that I follow and admire, it took not less than six months for them to start seeing significant traffic on their blog and growth in their income.
If you are a beginner at blogging, things may be hard, but do not quit even when you get to the low points. The struggle is the same for most of us. Try not to push things off because they are difficult to understand. The beginning will be hardest, so do not give up before you enjoy the benefits of the hard work you have already started.
I must tell you something; towards the end of my first month blogging, my traffic from Pinterest was growing at a ‘reasonable’ pace until I scheduled so many pins in one day, which affected my performance on Pinterest. My pageviews decreased drastically and I was always sad to check my analytics. Through it all, I knew I had come too far to give up. So instead of letting frustration take over me, I decided to find a solution. I invested in an amazing e-book on manual pinning which helped me improve my Pinterest game.
The key is to take steady steps if all the information on the internet seems overwhelming.
Slow steady steps are difficult, but they are important than being stagnant.
Things may not be smooth. Just like everyone else, you will fall and possibly bruise yourself while trying to work things out but the power lies in being persistent.
One key lesson I have learned as a new blogger is the importance of seeking relevant information (free or paid) to grow your blog. As I said, driving traffic to my blog at some point was a nightmare.
Now I have invested in Pinteresting Strategies (an e-book by Carly Campbell) and I’m working my way out of the overwhelm. If you are struggling with Pinterest and would like to read more about the Pinteresting Strategies e-book, click here.
